Liz on MyPleasure: New Approach to Healthy Body Image

Image
New Years is right around the corner and many people are going to make the same resolution they make every year, despite knowing that if it had worked before they wouldn't be making it again. A new survey by a British weight loss product company shows some interesting statistics about women's attitudes towards their bodies (surprise! it's not good) but other research shows there might be  gentler, healthier ways of keeping that resolution for a health body and attitude.  Happy New Year!!

Liz on Alternet: Is Marriage Becoming Obsolete?

Image
For once, I didn't bring it up. It was a Time magazine/Pew Research study revealing that 39% of people surveyed believed that marriage is becoming obsolete.         If you've been reading my work for awhile know my opinion of marriage - at least traditional marriage - which is that any time you have to be put under contract to be kept around something is amiss. Now, intriguingly, despite what seems like every movie, TV show and magazines still using marriage (or at least a wedding) to prove that the main character has ended happily - a lot more people than I'd have thought are answering the question  Is Marriage Becoming Obsolete?  with a big yes. Enjoy!

Liz quote on HerCampus.com, story in Huff Post

I recently got interviewed by Nicole Karlis of Hercampus.com for her story on  What Women Can Learn from Sister Wives , about how women in single-partner relationships can learn from people in multi-partner relationships about issues like jealousy and keeping things interesting. It was fun to talk to Nicole and I'm happy to say her piece got picked up by the Huff Post! Congrats Nicole!

Liz on Alternet: Anti-Fur but Pro-Meat? A Carnist's Dilemma

Image
One thing I know for sure about love is that if you don't step away from what you love once in awhile that you can grow weary of it and there are few worse feelings than looking at something that used to turn you on and thinking "Feh..." I don't want to feel that way about my writing niche of sex and love, so, very luckily, I get to do projects that are out of my genre sometimes, like my interview with Dr. Melanie Joy on Alternet.  I was having a moral dilemma over my disgust with fur farms and having trying to reconcile that with the fact that I'm a very avid omnivore - how can I really be that anti-fur and have no problem eating meat? And I'm an enthusiastic carnist. There are days when I feel like I could easily wander into one of the many pastures in Central Florida with a fork and a salt-shaker and having at one of the undoubtedly yummy cows out there. I was mulling over this when I happened on Melanie's book "Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and W

Liz on MyPleasure: Radiation Blocking Undies Give Travelers More Than Privacy

Image
There have been no good answers to the insane privacy violations taking place courtesy of the TSA but Jeff Buske of Rocky Flats gear has at least come up with those who would still like the freedom to be a little modest. Check out his radiation-blocking, privacy-protecting underwear in my post on  MyPleasure.com .
