Kreskin! Wes Anderson! Beards! What's Hot in CF...

This turned out to be one of my favorites, if not my all-time favorite What's Hot in Central Florida segments, not that I would have foreseen it because I'm not The Amazing Kreskin! the 77 year-old world famous mentalist, magician and all-around entertainer who is going to be at the Mount Dora Community Building tomorrow night. I loved watching Kreskin on all the talk shows when I was a kid in the 70's and am amazing to see that the 77 year-old is still going as strong as ever.

But wait! There's more! Also tomorrow night at Stardust Video and Coffee there's "Cuss, Yeah!" a tribute to Wes Anderson where there will be art work, a costume contest, special cocktails and awesome props made by my very own BFF Doug Rhodehamel. If you know where "Cuss Yeah" comes from, consider yourself a true fan.

Finally there's going to be a Battle of the Beards best beard contest at Wall Street Plaza on Sunday afternoon. I made a back hair joke in this bit in the broadcast about the beards-and-burly men thing but I want to assure you all it was no joke. Back hair is hot. In both sense of the term.

    Er....okay. Then I guess you like chest hair. Can anyone explain where men's chest hair went? Does it have something to do with porn stars? I never saw nothing down there until porn women started having nothing down there. So are you guys shaving now because every rabbbit boy except Ron Jeremy, bless him is as smooth as a sli n'slide?

    I like natural body hair - if you're a hairy guy don't shave it off, if you're not don't try to put hair plugs in your chest ...you're fine as you are (I don't mean you personally, anonymous, I mean the universal 'you'). As for the trend towards everyone being as bald as an egg everywhere but their heads, I've heard it attributed to porn but I think it also got a boost from both the gym and new wave trends in the 80's.

Say Ahhhhh: Drive-Thru Pap Smears in the COVID era

        Listening to my friends talk about the COVID-19 test I thought it was going to feel like getting a lobotomy.      “They stick a swab so far up your nose, I felt like it was going into the back of my eye,” one said, but when free drive-through testing was offered in my little Florida beach town I went. I can pinch a penny until Lincoln starts crying and if something is free, I’m going to get one, even if it means being skewered like a corn dog.  The test was mildly irritating. You tilt your head back and they do, indeed, poke a swab up your snoot farther than you’d expect it to go. It felt like I’d been bike riding and got ladybug stuck up my nose, a sensation which lasted about 45 minutes after the actual sticking. It wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, but I’d anticipated getting my eyeballs yoinked out through my nostrils.  Anything else was emotional found money.
