Sita Sings the Blues

Hindu goddess Sita lives for husband Rama until she’s kidnapped by an evil king and her dithering deity of a husband doubts her devotion. Narrated by three Indonesian shadow puppets with impeccable comic timing (you read right,) Sita delivers several animation styles, 1920’s jazz songs AND the breakup story of an American couple based on the true story of filmmaker Nina Paley.

I just love people who don’t know the word “enough.”

And I love that this is what Paley did with her broken heart. By taking her lousy love experience and turning it into this glittering cinematic firework - and my new favorite movie ever - Paley gives everyone the assurance that you can do more than rise above the pain – you can use it as fuel for greatness.

And of course you’ll come to the Florida Film Festival but in the meantime here’s a clip.
