How an Atheist Cheers Up

After many years as an agnostic I finally went full-on atheist, not because my butt hurt from sitting on the fence but because I realized that while I'm unsure of there being other dimensions I suspect that no one is running them.  A-theism means "without God," and so to be technically correct, "the best kind of correct," as they say on Futurama, I now label myself with the scarlet A.

The dark view some people take of atheists shocks me (especially when you look at the unspeakable things done in the names of various Gods) and I've often heard people say their faith gets them through the dark times.

Well, atheists have dark times, too, but one need not reach out of this world to take a brighter view of it. Navigating the World as an Atheist is my Alternet piece on the subject of stuff that uplifts my not-so-spiritual spirits. My friends are on it. Attractive people are on it. Charismatic figures in toast are not.
