Slugs & Bugs: Weird Sports Mascots
Look at her. She's happy as a clam.
What she has hold of there is called a geoduck (pronounced goo-eee-duk) and it's not just a fascinating long-lived clam, it's the mascot of Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, an intriguing place with possibly the oddest mascot in the U.S.
One thinks of sports teams being named after more intimidating animals like Bears and Tigers, but when you think about it some aren't so ferocious, like Dolphins and Cardinals and some are downright funny.
