NatGeo WAQ: Why doesn't my dog do Face Time?

When you come home your dog is so happy to see you he jumps around like he just got picked for The Price is Right. But when you try to talk to him on the phone he’s so aloof you’d think he owed you money.

What gives?

In my latest Weird Animal Question of the Week (let’s call it WAQ for short) on National Geographic It turns out that dogs have different abilities when it come to being able to hear or see their owners on phones, so depending on the device - and the dog - they may or may not be able to recognize the face or voice of an owner they would on a TV or other screen.

So, once again, dogs seem to mirror our behavior in that some of them don’t like to talk on the phone and some will talk all day if you let them. And how could you resist?)
